Islam vs Freedom

Last weeks events in London were extremely disturbing to me.  I have to say, as shocking as the beheading of a British soldier on a city street was, it was more the reaction of the government of England that disturbed me.  Yes, the violence was horrific but in all reality I am not surprised.  Islam is a religion that leans heavily on violence, very barbaric violence.  I really expect nothing less from them.  Why do I say that?  Facts.   What is it that Islam uses to control its own people and those who report, oppose, and criticize them?  Violence.

Now, I am very aware that by speaking on this subject I will be labeled and judged as an Islamaphobe.  Let me address that charge right off.  Here is a quote from a book called Islamophobia:  Making Muslim’s the Enemy by:  Peter Gottschalk and Gabriel Greenberg, “The term ‘Islamophobia’ accurately reflects the largely unexamined and deeply ingrained anxiety many Americans experience when considering Islam and Muslim cultures. Historically, Americans have seldom given voice to these anxieties since they have had, until the last half-century, few connections to Muslim cultures and a small domestic Muslim minority. However, in times of crisis, such as the Iranian hostage situation or, most recently, the September 11th attacks, the long-simmering resentments, suspicions, and fears inherited along with a Christian European heritage manifest themselves most directly in conditions that appear to affirm Americans’ darkest concerns. Like a vicious cyclone feeding off of its own energy, Islamophobia takes uncommon events as evidence fitting its worst expectations and turns these into proof that perpetuates those ill-informed expectations.”

By the authors own admittance there is reason for the “long simmering resentments, suspicions, and fears.”  They listed two major examples already and historically there is a plethora of violence to support these fears.  Just ask Brigitte Gabriel,Salman RushdieSeyran Ates, Simon Deng, Mark Gabriel, and Francis Bok, to name just a few who are critics of Islam and have more than enough personal experience and death threats to combat the idea that critics are “ill informed”.  Violence by Muslims is not as the authors like to claim “uncommon”.  Just before the London attack, a Muslim in France yelling “alluha akbar” slashed the throat of a rabbi.   Just after the beheading in London, there were Muslim riots in Sweden.  I contend and charge that those who call others who criticize Islam as Islamophobes or racists are guilty of manipulative and underhanded slander.   They use this ploy as Political Correctness to silence free society and use it as an effective weapon of censorship.

Now, why am I so disturbed by what happened in London last week?  I am disturbed because the censorship of a free society is strong in England.   Police have arrested several men for making anti-Islamic statements in social media.  Apparently you cannot speak your mind and free speech is not allowed.   I find it interesting that the peaceful and moderate Islamic people of England did not come against the violence.   They have no problem gathering in the tens of thousands to protest against criticism of Islam and wanting  to criminalize that criticism in England like they did in April 2013.  Instead, we hear nothing but silence when it comes to condemning their own for violence.  They could easily march against violence, be on talk shows, put out public service announcements, write articles in the newspapers, but they are not.   Where are the clerics taking the lead and taking a stand for what is right and good?  Muslims often justify the violence by saying that they are being persecuted.  But the fact is, Christianity is the most persecuted religion globally.  Muslims often won’t admit that much of the violence they face comes from people of their own faith.

Now, what does all of this have to do with America?  Look around the country.  The total number of Americans killed by Muslims on American soil is 3,101 in 70 different attacks since 1972 with another 1,592 injured.   The number of Muslims in America killed for being Muslim?  1.   Muslims are extremely vocal about being threatened, bullied, and discriminated against.  Unfortunately the facts don’t back up their claims.   As a matter of fact, the reverse is true.  The world has been experiencing Islam’s violence and intolerance for over 1,400 years.

If you think that what is happening in England can’t happen here, look no further than Dearborn, Michigan.  Judge Patrick J. Duggan, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, recently dealt a serious blow to the first Amendment.  He ruled against a lawsuit brought by several local Christian Pastors who were assaulted by Muslims at the annual Arab Festival.  The lawsuit contended that Wayne County, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, and two of deputies  refused to protect them from the Muslims that were attacking them.  The deputies not only refused to protect them, they threatened to arrest them for disorderly conduct if they continued talking about Jesus and the Bible in the presence of the Muslims. Judge Duggan threw the lawsuit out and sent the message that the violence was justified.

CAIR (Council on Anti-American Islamic Relations) Leadership continue to make statements that belie their goals posted on their website.   Mustafa Carroll, executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth CAIR branch, stated at a Muslim Capital Day event this past March  “If we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land.”   He also said “We tried to downplay Shariah, because we didn’t want to give the other side any excitement for being here.”

CAIR’s co-founder and former chairman Omar M. Ahmed speaking to a group of Muslims in North Carolina back in 1993 was paraphrased by a reporter as saying, ” “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant” and the Quran “should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”  He told the group that they were not here to assimilate but to assert Islam’s rule over the country.  He was going to do it through education.

CAIR leadership has said that the 1993 World Trade Center bombing  was a “a travesty of justice.”  CAIR had on its advisory board Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. It was the same Siraj Wahhaj who was asked to deliver the “Juma,” or invocation, at the Democratic National Convention for President Obama. He also once remarked, “It is my duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Quran.”

CAIR is a strong supporter of Hamas, a terrorist organization and has extensive ties with the Muslim Brotherhood.  Former FBI agent Mike Rolf acknowledges in the book Muslim Mafia, “CAIR has had a number of people in positions of power within the organization that have been directly connected to terrorism and have either been prosecuted or thrown out of  the country.”

Just this past Friday, the Tullahoma Times reported that the  U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Bill Killian, will speak at a special meeting on June 4th, sponsored by American Muslim Advisory Council of Tennessee.  Killian will be giving input on how civil rights can be violated by those who post inflammatory documents targeted at Muslims on social media.  By using social media to spread information that is inflammatory against Muslims, even if it is true, Killian is threatening that this could constitute a violation of civil rights.   “This is also to inform the public what federal laws are in effect and what the consequences are.”  Does this feel like America to you anymore?  Do you feel you are protected by the Bill of Rights?  I sure don’t.

I encourage each and every one of you to follow all the links I have provided in this article.  Do your own research… and dig deep even if it makes you uncomfortable.  The truth is out there.   Islam is a theocracy.   They are also the biggest human rights abusers on this planet.   They routinely engage in practices of slavery, ethnic cleansing, child brides, stoning, religious persecutiongenocide, pedophilia, anti-women rights, rape,  and the list goes on.   All of the links posted are from different countries…but all are under the umbrella of Islam.

We all have protection in America under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Muslims in America should be treated as every other practiced religion here without special treatment and special rights.   American Muslims need to be standing up for free speech, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.  They need to be assimilating to our freedoms not taking our freedoms because they go against Islamic teachings.

I once read and agree with the idea that we need to be engaged in religious criticism, criticism of  ideologies, and political commentary, all of which are desirable, and necessary, vital components of a free society.  We must ask ourselves why are they trying to silence us?  If we want to keep our Constitution and Bill of Rights we must be vigilant in fighting for them.
